Snowed Under map

How to read a white mountain: hub, buried buildings, and the steel tower.

Map Hub

Snowed Under does not hand you a colorful open-world GPS from minute one. You dig a personal map into the snow. The in-game map and binoculars exist, but players still get lost because flakes hide the skyline. This hub is the geography index.

  • Base camp — Kai, fire, dumps, photo events, saves.
  • Landmarks — bus, old house, interiors, how to peek without a compass.
  • Steel tower — the radio tower, roof VFX patch, story approach.
  • Old house — outdoor charms, 1.03 brightness, bath and pachinko events.

Movement habits that make any of those pages useful are in Controls (jump peeks) and How to Dig (one highway, not a maze). Survival when you are stuck outside is How to Survive.

Mental model

Think of a spoke: shelter in the middle, buildings as nodes, tower as the far hub. Snow is softer near Kai and harder far away. If your first tunnel aims at the tower, you chose the hardest snow with the worst shovel. Build nodes first.

Steam confirms some nodes by achievement: Last Stop (bus), A Signal in the Snow (tower), No Shelter Left Unseen (all buildings). Store art and previews mention a train-yard or gas-station look and a humanoid creature on all fours. Treat those as landmark flavors, not official POI names, until you see them in your own snow.

Why people feel like moles

A Chinese review said there should have been a handheld map, and that they had to jump to find a reference object. Use that as the intended technique even if it is clumsy: jump, find a roof, tunnel toward it, repeat. Second-floor binoculars help if you unlock a tall interior.

When the shovel is fully upgraded, the field opens and the old tunnels vanish. That helps speed and hurts navigation. Leave a wall if you still need a handrail home.

For collectibles tied to places, read charms and keys. For a sequenced visit order, read the walkthrough. For whether the empty interiors are a design problem, read the review.

Keep this hub bookmarked when the filter whites out a heading. The wiki cannot draw your tunnels, but it can remind you which named objects still exist under the snow.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is there an in-game map?

Yes. Players also use binoculars from upper floors. Jump peeks still matter in whiteouts.

What is the main destination?

The steel radio tower. A Signal in the Snow tracks reaching it.

Why is far snow worse?

Players report hardness scaling with distance from Kai's fire. Upgrade before long headings.
