Official Steam news from the first days after launch, in one place.

Patch Notes

These notes paraphrase Chilla’s Art Steam news posts. They are not a complete private changelog. If Steam shows a newer number, trust Steam. Community issues that were not in these posts live on known bugs.

Play the patches with the rest of the wiki: charms and keys for 1.02, old house for 1.03, steel tower for 1.04, scrap and upgrades for 1.05, achievements for 1.06.

Update 1.02

Official Steam news:

  • Fixed a bug where you get stuck when patron content is picked up.

Save before you touch those objects anyway. If a day-one file froze on a patron pickup, update, then reload a shelter save. This is not a missing controls bind.

Update 1.03

Official Steam news, Japanese and English together:

  • Updated the image for the Patron content section in the main menu
  • Added cries for the monster (雪炎 in the Japanese line)
  • Added animal sounds
  • Adjusted and expanded the public bath event
  • Fixed some sounds that were not affected by the audio settings
  • Adjusted the brightness inside the old house
  • Adjusted the pachinko event presentation

Those are official event names. This wiki will not invent a second walkthrough for the bath or the pachinko machine. When you see those spaces, read documents on the walls. If a day-one clip looked black inside the house, this is the brightness pass.

Update 1.04 (13 August 2026 news)

Japanese and English lines together:

  • Fixed a bug where the freezing effect would not stop properly upon reaching the top of the tower.
  • Added some new dialogue.

If you climbed the radio tower on day one and stayed iced over, this is your patch. Extra dialogue may matter for people hunting Ending B after A. We will not claim which lines were added.

Update 1.05 (13 August 2026 news)

  • Adjusted scrap count in the map.
  • Added missing snow effect on the shovels.

Scrap Collector and Leave Nothing Behind hunters should ignore beta counts. Shovel VFX is comfort and readability, not a new stat. If a YouTube farm route disagrees with your pile, this patch is why.

Update 1.06

Steam community listed:

  • Updated localization
  • Adjusted Steam achievement trigger

If a badge should have popped and did not, update, then repeat the action (dump scrap, enter a building, finish an ending scene). Localization fixes matter for the many subtitle languages on the store page, including English, French, and German used on this wiki.

What these patches do not claim to fix

They do not mention Day 2 night stalls, Day 3 photo tool loss, backpack freezes, or stuck wolves. Those remain community reports on the known bugs page. Do not assume 1.06 silently solved them.

They also do not add a second player, Mac, or a handheld verification. The game remains a Windows single-player Steam title. See system requirements.

How to apply

Open Steam, let the client update app 4938200, reboot the game, load a shelter save. If you were mid-tower on 1.03-era files, climb again after 1.04. If you were at 90 scraps, keep sweeping after 1.05 instead of assuming the last ten despawned forever.

For whether the game is worth updating toward, the review hub is honest about Mixed scores. Patches fix VFX and triggers. They do not add a second horror verb.

When notes get stale, check the Steam news hub for Snowed Under before you believe a random thread that “they patched endings.” If it is not in a numbered post, it is not on this page.

Read the five patches as a sequence, not as a pile. 1.02 is for patron pickups. 1.03 is for the old house and named events. 1.04 is for people who already saw the antenna. 1.05 is for people still counting metal. 1.06 is for people staring at an empty Steam overlay. Installing them out of order still works because Steam gives you the latest bundle, but your troubleshooting order should match the symptom. Roof ice is not a scrap problem. A missing badge is not a shovel VFX problem. Keep that split when you post a support question so Chilla’s Art is not guessing which night you froze.

Store the patch number in your own note when you start a session. Mixed reviews written on day one may predate 1.05 scrap and 1.06 triggers. Citing them without a build number wastes everyone’s time, including yours when you try to follow an outdated farm route on this wiki’s upgrade planner.
